Turkey completely gets rid of IMF debt

Turkey has fully paid off its debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), TRT Turk TV channel reported today.

According to the report, Turkey's last payment hit $421 million. Moreover, after paying off the debt, Turkey intends to provide the IMF with a $5 billion loan.

Since Turkey's accession to the IMF on March 11, 1947, the parties have signed 19 standby agreements. During its entire history of cooperation with the IMF, Turkey has received $50 billion.
