Turkey ups gold exports to Iran

Gold exports from Turkey to Iran have increased by 36 times in March 2012 compared to the same month in 2011, the Institute of Statistics of Turkey said on Friday.

Turkey exported gold worth $13 million to Iran in March 2011. Ttge total exports of gold amounted to $1 in January - March 2012 compared to $411 million during the same period in 2011.

Earlier, it was stated in the report of the Turkish Gold Minersa ssociation that gold production in Turkey increased to 25 thousand tons in 2011 compared to 17 tons in 2010.

According to the report, Turkey plans to increase gold production in the country to 35,000 tons in 2012. Turkey started gold production in 2001.
