Possible commissioning of the Gabala radar station to the United States and Turkey is being considered in Baku.

The due announcement was made by Araz Azimov, deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan.
He explained it by Russia's decision to quit an agreement with Ukraine on means of the Dnepr Systems of Missile Defense, dislocated in Ukraine near Mukachev and Sevastopol.
"Azerbaijan can use the Gabala radar station upon expiration of the Russia's leasing term in different formats", Araz Azimov announced.
He said if Azerbaijan and Russia do not prolong the term of the lease agreement in 2012, different variants might be considered. "For instance, the radar station can be operated in a trilateral format. Either the United States or Turkey can be a third country. There can also be a fourth one", Azimov explained noting "that this can be a subject to ponder over".
At the same time he rebutted information, spread by Turkish medias regarding Washingon's intention to dislocate missile defense systems in Azerbaijan and Turkey, noting that there have never been such a proposal.
"Perhaps, considering the structural scheme of Poland and Czechia, someone based on the similarity principle and therefore made such a proposal. Turkey is Azerbaijan's closest partner and member of NATO. But this can only be regarded as an idea. Azerbaijan has never received such a proposal. Besides, we consider it impossible in the present-day conditions", Araz Azimov noted.
