It's amusing to watch how, amid the growing tensions between
Baku and Moscow, one irrelevant figure after another crawls out of obscurity,
trying to remind the Kremlin of their existence and extract some benefit.
Yesterday, Yakov Kedmi emerged from the shadows, and today
we have none other than Robert Kocharyan.
"Robik" gave an interview to some media outlet, in
which he claimed that Armenia should quickly align itself with Russia and take
advantage of the Baku-Moscow rift.
“If Armenia had a wise leader,” he bleated—perhaps alluding
to himself—the country would have already done so.
They just can’t let go of the dream of becoming the
Kremlin’s national savior. First there was Vardanyan, who ended up behind bars.
Then Samvel Karapetyan followed.
Just the other day, Ara Abrahamyan offered his services to
Moscow—and right on cue, Kocharyan popped up to remind everyone that he, too,
is eager to serve the Russian Federation, if only they’d help him claw his way
back to power.
One wonders how many more of these candidates will come
forward.
