This is so important that it needs to be repeated for
Russian propagandists once again: Yes, Azerbaijan demolished the monument to
Aivazovsky in Khankendi. And it was a perfectly legitimate action.
First, in no country in the world, including the Russian
Federation, can a monument or even a plaque be erected without the approval of
local authorities—whether it’s the municipality, the district council, or any
local government body.
Second, any illegally constructed/installed/created facility
is either shut down or demolished. It doesn't matter if it’s a monument, a
kiosk, or a shawarma stand.
Third, was the monument to Aivazovsky an illegal object?
Yes, it was.
The Russian peacekeepers did not coordinate its installation
with anyone. Was Karabakh part of Russia in 2021? No. Did the RMK agree on
anything? No.
This means that its installation was a violation of
Azerbaijani law. Moreover, the Armenian occupiers were directly involved in
this violation.
It’s even more absurd that Russian and Armenian propaganda
are inexplicably shouting that "President Ilham Aliyev ordered the
monument to be demolished." Where does this even fall under the
prerogative of the head of state? Such decisions are made at the level of
district or municipal authorities, nothing more.
So the situation is actually very simple, if we set aside
the tantrums around Aivazovsky:
The monument was not legitimate, and its dismantling was a
legitimate and entirely correct action.
All other publications are either speculation or deliberate
provocation.
