Five of the World's weirdest ice-creams

Sausage & Mash

We originally labelled this sausage, mash, peas and gravy monster the 'World's worst ice cream', though the makers of the cone took offence to our verdict and promptly sent round a heap of sausage and mash cones for us to try. Turns out, we were right (sort of).


Brussel Sprout flavoured ice-cream

Stuart Ferguson took a leaf out of Heston Blumenthal's book by creating an icy treat flavoured with Brussels sprout for the Christmas menu at Vivat Bacchus.

The South African-owned restaurant in London Bridge served up the Brussels with turkey jelly and cranberry foam, with Ferguson stating: 'It's taken weeks to develop but I'm delighted with the results.'


Get a kick with the 'Viagra' ice-cream

The electric green Sex Pistol ice cream contains natural stimulants including ginkgo biloba, arginine and guarana and is served with a shot of La Fee Absinthe poured over the top.

The concoction is claimed to naturally enhance blood flow and increase energy levels, though because of its 'amazingly potent sexual powers'  customers are limited to just one serving per person.


Heston Blumenthal's Bacon & Egg ice-cream

This weird and wonderful recipe comes from the godfather of off-the-wall cooking, Heston Blumenthal, owner of the Fat Duck Restaurant in Bray. His signature dish serves up two types of bacon infused in custard, which is then frozen in liquid nitrogen before being served to waiting diners. Bashashi ice-cream

Our final offering comes from Japan, where you can buy the intriguing 'Bashashi ice'. Well, we say intriguing, but we actually mean horrifying - this 'ice-cream' contains chunks of raw horse meat. That's right, raw horse meat. We think we'll give this one a miss.
