‘Music holiday ended in Baku’

The 5th international Mstislav Rostropovich Festival organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan ended on Saturday. Chief of art department of Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism Farah Aliyeva said that the aim of the festival is to organize performances of prominent art masters in Rostropovich`s motherland.

“The international festival, initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, is held as a music holiday every December in Baku,” Aliyeva added. The festival held in Muslum Magomayev Philharmonic Hall culminated with the performance of the Paris Chamber Orchestra conducted by Lawrence Foster. The soloist of the Paris Chamber Orchestra was Jean-Yves Thibaudet (piano). The Orchestra performed music pieces by Gabriel Fauré, Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns, Igor Stravinsky and Franz Schubert at the final concert.
