
In the first quarter of 2011 the cascade of the Mingachevir hydropower plant generated about 258.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity compared to the forecasted 254 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, JSC Azerenergy (production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) said today.
In March the power plant’s cascade generated 135 million kilowatt-hours, which is 102 percent more than was forecast.
The cascade includes Mingachevir and Varvara hydropower plants.
Reconstruction work is underway on the first and third hydraulic units of the Mingachevir HPP.
Also, reconstruction work has been launched at the Varvara hydropower plant. The first hydraulic unit has been completely dismantled.
