"This is an unambiguous violation of consumers' rights. It seems that fight for money of local consumers has entered the phase of illegitimacy", Eyub Huseynov, head of the Free Consumers Union of Azerbaijan, said commenting on the complaints of Azercell mobile communication users, who state that in a response to messages, sent to short numbers, they get an answer about incorrect dialing of a number, which obliges the subscribers to spend more money for getting information they need.
He said these actions of Azercell is another proof that the absence of a state consumer policy breeds greater unscrupulousness of various monopolists of any segment on the local market.
"If Azercell allows itself an open neglect of consumers' rights, our consumers may boycott this mobile operator. I am ready to launch large campaign of combat for the rights of Azercell subscribers", resumed Huseynov.
For comments on Eyub Huseynov's announcement, Day.Az correspondent has contacted the press service for Azercell and got the following response:
"What if the number is really dialed incorrectly? Probably, the subscribers dial the wrong number of put a space. This is a purely technical issue, which should not be viewed otherwise.
On the other side, if Eyub Huseynov really receives complaints, he should present the said complaints to us to substantiate his accusations addressed to Azercell. If there are no complaints from subscribers, the Azerbaijan Free Consumers Union should introduce definite figures to us. Azercell has a right to know and it has no mass complaints on this issue".
