About 120 singers have applied for the national selections to determine Azerbaijan’s representative for Eurovision 2011 that will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany in May, chief of department for musical, entertaining programs of the Public Television and Radio Company (ITV) Natig Abdullayev said.
According to the department chief, 90 were chosen after the interview. “There are 15 famous signers among the applicants. Azerbaijani singers living abroad, representatives of other nations have also applied. We have also received applications from the European countries,” he said.
Natig Abdullayev said some changes had been made in the national selection process. Changes are also expected in the composition of the national jury. Abdullayev underlined that it was not known whether final concert would be held or not.
He noted that children of famous Azerbaijani singers had also applied for the national selection.
“But importance will be attached to their skills,” he said.
