Azerbaijan baby food manufacturer selected after tender

The tender commission of the National Fund for Entrepreneurship Support (NFES) under the Azerbaijani Economic Development selected one of the three business investment projects submitted by the entrepreneurs for the production of baby food, NFES Executive Director Shirzad Abdullayev said.

The Diplomat Company won the competition. The cost of its project is estimated at 13 million manat, of which 5 million manat will be financed through the NFES.

Abdullayev said currently the company is in talks with the Azerbaijan Investment Company for the acquisition of equity in the project, as well as with the global manufacturer of baby food - a German company HIPP, which will provide the technology and brand to produce baby food in Azerbaijan.

"Diplomat will be the first baby food producer in Azerbaijan," Abdullayev said.

The project implementation period is six months. The enterprise for the production of baby food with a capacity of 2,000 tons per year will be constructed in the Absheron peninsula.

The investment competition required the following: the investment project should include the production of various types of baby food, the area chosen for the construction of production facility must possess beneficial infrastructure, the plant must have the technology that meets modern requirements and standards, manufacturing process must ensure the quality indicators and the enterprise should have a modern laboratory. The investment project must be implemented in the optimum time.
