Azeri protest dispersed by Georgian special forces

Georgian Special Forces dispersed protest demonstration of Azerbaijanis by force in Demya Goraraki village, Marneuli, who were protesting about their land problems.

Azeri reporters from Lider and ANS TV channels, Almaz Keleyev and Nuru Osmanov, who were videotaping beatings of people by Georgian Special Forces during the protest, underwent pressure, they were made to give their video materials away. Civil-worn police broke into houses in Damya Gorarki village and beat women and children after the event.

Azerbaijani Embassy spokesman Elkhan Polukhov told APA bureau in Georgia that identity of the people who took video materials was not known.

"We tried to contact Marneuli Police chief but we couldn’t. We were told that the chief is ill. Police department investigation station Chief Vladimir Zgoyev said that they were also concerned about the loss of the tapes," said Elkhan Polukhov.

According to the latest reports, Georgian Interior Ministry inspection officers will also go to Marneuli to investigate happenings.
