New Mandela statue planned in South Africa

South Africa plans to unveil a new statue of Nelson Mandela at the official seat of government in the capital Pretoria, a government minister said Sunday, dpa reported.

The monument will be inaugurated at the Union Buildings on Reconciliation Day, December 16, Collins Chabane said.

The Foreign Ministry said 53 heads of state will visit South Africa next week to take part in commemoration services for Mandela.
