Baku Fires boxers win in Istanbul

Azerbaijani club is to hold its next fight against Paris United in France on Dec.2.

The second week match of World Series of Boxing (WSB) 2011/2012 season between the Istanbul Bosphorus and the Baku Fires took place in Ahmet Comert Sport Palace in Istanbul (Turkey). The Baku Fires notched up its second victory in the season with the score 3:2.

In the first bout in the bantamweight representative of Azerbaijan Gairbek Germakhanov took to the ring against Turkish boxer Murat Temir. 26 year-old boxer of Fires started dominating from the first round. At the beginning of the bout Temir got an eyebrow section. As a result Gairbek was awarded a victory by TKO and opened the scoring for the Baku Fires.

The lightweight contest between Semen Grivachev and Bunyamin Aydin last five rounds and was over in favor of the Baku Fires. Winner of AIBA President's Cup Grivachev showcased all his skills and looked much more impressive than unknown Turkish boxer, who lost all three WSB bouts last season. Semen won the bout by unanimous decision of referees - 49:46, 49:46, 49:46.

The Istanbul Bosphorus managed to notch up their first victory in the match only in the third bout. Young Georgian middleweight boxer Jaba Khositashvili overcame Belarus legionary of the Baku Fires Mahamed Nurudzinau - 48:47, 49:46, 49:46.

In the light heavyweight contest the visiting team confirmed its dominance. The debutant of Fires Azamat Murtuzaliyev has confidently coped with the resistance of Uzbek Boxer Sardor Begaliyev and sealed the match for the Baku Fires - 49:46, 48:47, 49:46.

The Turkish team had an opportunity to earn one point if they win the last contest and lose the match with the final score 2:3. Silver medalist of Olympic Games 2004 Viktar Zuev did his best to use this opportunity. He demonstrated strong performance against Gadji Murtuzaliyev and was awarded a victory by unanimous decision of referees - 50:45, 50:45, 50:45.

1. Baku Fires – 6 points, gap in won and lost fights – 8-2 (2 matches)
2. Leipzig Leopards – 3, 4-1 (1)
3. Paris United – 3, 3-2 (1)
4. Istanbul Bosphorus – 2, 4-6 (2)
5. Mexico City Guerreros – 0, 1-4 (1)
6. Wuxi Dragons – 0, 0-5 (1)

Two more matches will be held in Group B on 19 November: Wuxi Dragons (China) - Leipzig Leopards (Germany), Mexico City Guerreros (Mexico) - Paris United (France).

As for the Baku Fires, the Azerbaijani club is to hold its next fight against Paris United in France on Dec.2.
