Azerbaijani chess team to vie for Olympiad crown

Azerbaijan's national chess team will compete in the international Olympiad 2010 starting in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, next Monday. The national men's team includes Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Teymur Rajabov, Rauf Mammadov, Gadir Huseynov and Eltaj Safarli.

The women's team consists of Zeynab Mammadyarova, Turkan Mammadyarova, Khayala Isgandarova, Gulnar Mammadova and Nargiz Umudova. The Swiss system tournament will bring together 1380 players from 160 countries. The 81st congress and assembly of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) will be held as part of the Olympiad. The meeting will also feature the election of the FIDE's president.
