Azerbaijan grabbed another medal in the Rio Paralympics 2016. Swimmer Raman Salei has won silver medal in the 100-meter backstroke.

He was the fastest in qualifying in 1:01:58 min. In final Raman swam even better (1:00:91 min), but it was not enough to achieve a gold medal. Ukrainian Sergey Klippert clocked a time 59.77 and took first place.

His brother Dmitry Salei, in turn, took the sixth place at the same event. Earlier,  Dmitry won silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke event, coming in second at 1:08:80 seconds.

So far, the country’s haul includes nine medals including one gold, six silver and two bronze medals.

In the Summer Paralympics, which will last until September 18, Azerbaijan is represented by 24 athletes in judo, athletics, powerlifting, swimming, shooting and archery.

There are six women among the Azerbaijani Paralympians. The national Paralympians have 41 licenses, which is more compared to London 2012 Paralympics.

Azerbaijani Paralympians have won 161 medals (64 gold, 57 silver and 40 bronze) over the last four years.
