Michael Schumacher report slammed as ‘irresponsible’

24 December 2015 [11:52] - TODAY.AZ

Michael Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm has slammed reports in the German media that the seven-time F1 world champion is able to walk again as 'irresponsible' for giving 'false hope' to people.

Almost two years after the German suffered a skiing accident that left him with serious head injuries, German magazine Bunte published a story suggesting he has now gained some mobility, such as raising his arm and walking with the aid of therapists.

However, his long-time manager Kehm has released a statement refuting the claims and admonishing the publication for giving 'false hope' to his fans.

"Unfortunately, we are forced by a recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true,” a statement read.

“Such speculation is irresponsible, because given the seriousness of his injuries, his privacy is very important for Michael. Unfortunately they also give false hopes to many involved people."

F1 legend was seriously injured in a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013. After several months in hospital, he has been continuing his rehabilitation at home, though his exact condition has never been officially communicated as the family seek to retain his privacy.
