Masalli telecommunications node to completely resume activity after blast

11 February 2011 [15:35] - TODAY.AZ
The basic infrastructure of the Masalli telecommunications node, whose building collapsed last week, has been recovered, Azerbaijani Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov said on Friday.

Since the first day of the incident, the Aztelecom Production Union has carried out work to implement an alternative option, which is the commissioning of the telecommunications node's new building, Abbasov said.

"The Masalli telecommunications node will completely restore its activity in the next three or four days. The management of international and transit traffic will also be transferred to the new building. There was no problem with the management of international and transit traffic in Masalli thanks to alternative channels," Abbasov said.

A criminal case has been filed in connection with the collapse of the building. The Masalli Prosecutor's Office opened a murder case, the office told Trend earlier.

According to the information, a working commission has been created to clarify the causes of the incident. As a result of an explosion on Monday in the building, two people died and four were injured.
