Chinese kidnappers in Azerbaijan go on trial

On Wednesday, the Grave Crime Court of Baku began a trial on the case of Chinese citizens engaged in kidnapping in Azerbaijan. According to APA, the court scheduled the date of judicial survey. The first hearing will be held on February 23.

Head of the gang, citizen of China Ci Fong Ping and member of the gang Hu Ye were detained as a result of the operations carried out by the ministry’s Department to Combat Organized Crimes. Measures are being taken to detain the other members of the gang. The abovementioned persons kidnapped citizen of China Liu Genyong and his brother Liu Khiaolein in Masalli region on November 13, 2009 and brought to Baku. They were released after Genyong’s wife Huong Suzhen gave them $22,000. They were arrested as a result of the operations carried out by the Interior Ministry’s Department to Combat Organized Crimes basing on the appeal of Chinese citizen Liu Genyong. The same day citizens of China Li Jien Vei, Zengo Vang Liyong, Vang Konyong and Zing Lakhu were detained. Masks, knives, axe, iron rods, sticky tape, mobile phones were found in their house. Zhang Venlin, whose eyes were bound with the sticky tape and forefinger was cut off, was released.

They are charged with kidnapping according to article 144.1 (kidnapping) of the Criminal Code.
