February 2 marks Youth Day in Azerbaijan

The First Forum of Azerbaijani Youth involving over 2,000 youth organizations across the country was held in 1996 upon the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The Forum identified tasks of government agencies and youth organizations before every young man in the country. They were tasked with taking real steps for all-round development of youth and for speedy and efficient resolution of the problems of youth.

The First Youth Forum was crucial to revive the work with the youth in Azerbaijan.

In 1997, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a decree according to which February 2, the date the first forum was held, was declared the Day of the Azerbaijani Youth.
