Another Azerbaijani blogger released

Imprisoned blogger Emin Milli has been released, his lawyer Isakhan Ashurov said.
Milli has been released from prison today under the order of Salyan Region Court. The court passed a judgment because Milli served half of his sentence. Other part of imprisonment has been substituted with conditional sentence.

Note that, Emin Milli was detained in jail located in Khalaj settlement of Salyan region, and that is way, his case had been heard at Salyan Region Court.

Remind that, bloggers Adnan Hajizadeh and Emin Milli were detained after the incident in Lebanese restaurant in Azerbaijan’s capital on July 8, 2009. They faced charges under articles 127.2.3 (deliberately inflicting less serious bodily harm) and 221.2.1 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code. On November 11, 2009, Sabail district court sentenced Emin Milli to two years and six months, Adnan Hajizadeh to two years in jail. They filed an appeal against the decision of the court of first instance. Baku Appeals Court upheld the decision of the court of first instance. They filed a cassation. The Supreme Court also upheld the decision of the previous instances.

Yesterday, Baku Appeals Court was held trial on the appeal filed by blogger Adnan Hajizadeh against the decision of Garadagh district court related to his premature release. The court considered the complaint and Adnan Hajizadeh was released prematurely.
