International scientific and practical conference entitled “Culture and Beauty factor in Islam” started in Baku on Nov. 9.
The conference is one of the series of events Baku has been hosting through the year in the capacity of Islamic Culture Capital, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The event brings together representatives from 15 countries, including Russia, Egypt, Albania, Jordan and Turkey.
Opening the conference, Azerbaijan`s deputy minister of youth and sport Sevda Mammadaliyeva praised Azerbaijani First Lady, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva`s efforts towards popularization of the country`s culture and music.
Speaking to the event, president of the Academy of National Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANSA), academician Mahmud Karimov said “since its establishment Islam became a common value and culture of more than a billion people”.
Hidayat Orujov, Chief of Azerbaijan`s State Committee for Work with Religious Associations, spoke of the history of Islam in Azerbaijan, saying “embracing Islam the Azeri people not only joined rich civilization, but also played important role in development and enrichment of this civilization”.
Rector of Nizhni Novgorod Institute of Islam, Russia, Damir Mukhatdinov, teacher of Moscow State University of Culture and Arts Nadezhda Yemelyanova and representative of Turkish Marmara University Racab Garadagh also made speeches at the event.
