Heydar Aliyev Foundation President attends opening ceremony of secondary schools after major overhaul – Photo

President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of secondary schools in Shuvalan and Turkan villages in Baku suburbs after major overhaul on Sept. 15.
The two secondary schools were opened after a major overhaul funded by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on Sept. 15, Day of Knowledge.

While getting familiar with the Shuvalan secondary school in March last year, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Aliyeva noted that the school was unfit for education and needed repairs. The school building underwent repairs with the support the foundation for a short period of time in line with modern requirements and has been supplied with new equipment.
Due to richness of its material and technical base now the school has become one of modern educational facilities in the country. All rooms are provided with visual aids and posters, prepared under the Foundation's "Support to Education" project.

Teaching staff and pupils of the school warmly welcomed Mrs. Aliyeva.

Mehriban Aliyeva got familiar with the school. She was told that a three-story school is designed for 1200 pupils.

"Once again I congratulate you. Now the school meets all requirements. Once again I remind you that having been here 9 months ago, we saw - and you probably also remember - in what a lamentable state this school was as evidenced by photographs on photo stands,” Mrs. Aliyeva said.

Now, good conditions have been provided for both children and teachers. In general, school construction is implemented at a fast pace in Azerbaijan. Over the past six years, 1,800 new schools have been built and put into operation. I am particularly pleased that all the schools in the Shuvalan village - there are three large schools - have been renovated and refurbished to the highest level. Every time I arrive this village I experience good feelings. The appearance of the settlement have changed and area has become more landscaped in a short time frame,” she added.

On the same, Mehriban Aliyeva also attended opening ceremony of a secondary school in Turkan village.  

This school, which did not undergo repairs for almost 40 years, was unfit for education. Now the school has been overhauled as part of the Heydar  Aliyev Foundation program ‘New Schools for Renewed Azerbaijan.”

The school has also been provided with a strong material and technical basis.

Mehriban Aliyeva was told that the school is designed for 1,176 pupils. It has 42 classrooms. Reconstruction of schools allowed to fully modernize learning environment of a large number of pupils and to improve teaching.
