Cargo ship with Azerbaijanis on board wrecked in Black Sea near Istanbul

Dry cargo ship Kramco under flag of Cambodia which was carrying Azerbaijanis as well crashed on Monday in the Black Sea near Istanbul. General Consul of Azerbaijan in Turkey Sayad Aran said.
He said the board included a team of 12 sailors, eight of them were Azerbaijanis, two were Georgians, 1 Ukrainian and one was Turkish.

All crew members were rescued. The causes of crash is being investigated.

Consulate of Azerbaijan in Istanbul is studying the situation of citizens of Azerbaijan rescued from the ship. Full list of Azerbaijani seamen from wrecked ship as well as information about their condition will be unveiled on Tuesday morning, said the consul.

The distress signal from the cargo ship went around 17.30 local time, NTV reported.  A rescue team was sent to the site immediately after the crash. Cargo ship split in two parts.

Turkey's Coast Guard boats and helicopters were involved with the rescue.

The reason for the crash is not yet known.

According to reports by Turkish media, the stern of cargo ship has sank. The bow was still on the surface of the sea a mile from the Istanbul area Kilyos.
