Russia suspends gas supply to Georgia, Armenia

A accident took place in Mozdok-Tbilisi gas pipeline section running via Ingushetia on Sept. 1.
Pipe of 720 mm diameter burst near the village of Upper Achaluki.

Russian Emergency Situations Ministry Southern Regional Emergency Center said the accident led to a fire. Gas supply was stopped as its remnants were burning. Causes of the accident is being determined by specialists.

Pipeline Mozdok-Tbilisi connects Russia and South Caucasus. It pipes Russian gas to Georgia and Armenia. Accidents on the pipeline have occurred on numerous occasions.
