25 August 2009 [16:42] - TODAY.AZ
Georgian frontier guards have detained former captain of Buket ship Azerbaijani citizen Ilgar Imanverdiyev on August 24.
He is accused of violation of the law and group entry into the occupied territory, Georgian frontier police said.

Georgia states that he repeatedly violated Georgian territorial waters and visited Abkhazia with smuggled freight when he was a captain of the ship under Panama flag.

Imanverdiyev was detained at Edirne tanker under a flag of Sierra-Leone in Batumi while passport examination. The tanker was fined by Georgia for water pollution. After paying a fine, it was released.

At present, the ship is detained in Georgian port of Batumi for smuggle of oil products for Abkhazian separatists.
