Distinguished Russian author: I will never part ways with my beloved Azerbaijan

03 July 2009 [13:53] - TODAY.AZ
“I have decided never to part ways with Azerbaijan.”
Russian writer who was awarded Friendship Order by Azerbaijan Rudolf Ivanov said.

«I have never received such a noble and grateful aid. Therefore, all my works will be devoted to a further refund of the trust through which I was awarded the highest award. I will dedicate my remaining life to collect particles of stories to finish the history book about sunny Azerbaijan,”  Ivanov said on Friday at the presentation of books on Azerbaijan’s history.

He said the award (the Order of Friendship) amazed him.

“It shocked me, not only because it is the greatest reward in my life, but because this award is from my second Motherland - Azerbaijan. I consider myself a Russian - my mother land is in the Caucasus, and it is my duty to serve the Caucasus. But Azerbaijan played a vital role in my life. There I was admitted to the Baku Naval Preparatory School. Therefore, I believe Azerbaijan to be my second homeland. After our school moved to Kaliningrad, I always wanted to return to Baku. And now, after 61 years and 8 months, my dream came true,” Ivanov said.

He believes that the Friendship Order belongs to the many representatives of Azerbaijan.

“I am grateful to you for many of my works. If I were a magician, I would divide this award into hundreds of parts and distributed it to all of you. Because it is impossible to create without help,” Ivanov said.
