Many proposals taken into account in new law on Education in Azerbaijan: minister

"A positive factor is that admission of winners of Olympiads to university without examinations remained in power. Several articles on improving specialties were added to the bill, as well," Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov said at the meeting of the parliamentary committee on science and education.

The acting law on Education was adopted in 1992. A new bill has begun to be developed since 1995, but the bill was not adopted within 14 years.

The minister said provisions of the bill which envisages appointing treasurers in educational institutions are a positive side.

"I have a claim on the fact that a provision on a single uniform for students and teachers of universities was not reflected in the bill," Mardanov said.

The minister noted that the law on Education has been developed at a high level.

"If the bill is passed by the parliament in the third reading, the Azerbaijani society will take benefit from it," Mardanov noted.
