Two fortresses of the 12th century found in Azerbaijan

Officials of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan are conducting archaeological digs on the area of the Koroghlu qalasi fortress of Gedabey  region of Azerbaijan, according to the press service for the National Academy of Science, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

During the digs a secret water reservoir, a wind mill, a tendir house and 5-6 residential houses were found in the fortress. Moreover, residuals of nearly 40 residential houses were found around the fortress. This fortress of Ganja dates to the 12th century.

Owing to the researches it became clear that there are two small fortresses near the Koroghlu galasy fortress. They locate at Chavdu section. A diameter of one fortress, which equals 950 meters, was revealed during the digs.
