Appeal filed against court decision not to reopen Abu Bakr mosque in Azerbaijan’s capital

09 January 2009 [13:18] - TODAY.AZ
Narimanov district religious community filed an appeal against the decision of Narimanov district court, lawyer Javanshir Suleymanov told APA. Suleymanov said the appeal against the decision of Narimanov district court not to reopen Abu Bakr mosque had been submitted to Baku Appeals Court that day. It is not known when the court will consider the appeal.

Narimanov district religious community had sued Narimanov district police office demanding to reopen Abu Bakr mosque. At first the court passed a decision to reopen the mosque, but later the court reconsidered the case and rejected the appeal on December 23, 2008. The decision is attributed to the unfinished investigation of the terror attack on the mosque.
