Milli Medjlis deputy: "There is no need for adoption of a separate law, prohibiting smoking in public places in Azerbaijan"

07 January 2009 [14:55] - TODAY.AZ
The prohibition to smoking in public places is fixed in the law "On tobacco and tobacco wares", therefore, there is no need in adoption of a separate law, said chairman of the parliamentary commission on social policy Hadi Rajabli.

He said amendments can only be introduced to the Code of administrative law offenses.

At the same time he noted that the deputies submitted draft laws about prohibition of smoking in public places and they are considered as one of the variants of the law.

Rajabli noted that Ganira Pashayeva and Musa Guliyev also presented their variants.

"All variants are important to us, as there is a basic law, to which definite amendments can be introduced. Smoking in public places is not a sharp problem for Azerbaijan. For example, no one smokes at Heydar Aliyev's palace or other concert halls, because it is not accepted here", said he.
