Appeal about pre-term release of Azadlyg newspaper correspondent Mirza Sakit submitted to court

Defender Isakhan Ashurov has appealed to the Narimanov district court with a request about pre-term release of Azadlyg newspaper correspondent Mirza Sakit, reports Day.Az with reference to the Institute for Reporter Freedom and Safety.

According to Isakhan Ashurov under the law, if a prisoner serves a greater part of his term, he has a right to appeal to court regarding his pre-term release.

It should be reminded that Azadlyg newspaper correspondent Mirza Sakit was arrested on June 23 of 2006.

During the arrest the policy found 10 grams of heroine after which the Court of Grave Crimes sentenced him to 3 years i prison. Currently, just 6 months are left to the completion of the term of imprisonment.
