Georgian language courses for Azerbaijani opened in Georgia

24 September 2008 [16:54] - TODAY.AZ
Classes on Georgian language opened in 50 Azerbaijani schools in Georgia on September 24, said the press service for the State Committee for work with Azerbaijanis, residing abroad.
50 schools, where Georgian language courses were opened, locate in all 6 regions of the compact residence of Azerbaijanis, including Tbilisi and Rustavi, Marneuli, Bolnisi, Dmanisi and Gardaban.

Reports say that this will promote integration of Azerbaijanis into the Georgian society.

About 100 pupils, who are mostly the pupils of the senior school, were attracted to the classes. The graduates of 2008, who were unable to enter high schools due to weak knowledge of Georgia, will also study at these courses.

The state committee noted that due to the transfer to the 12-year education, Georgia will have no graduates this year, therefore, Azerbaijani pupils have two more years to study the Georgian language.

Teachers, who know both Georgian and Azerbaijani, will teach at the lessons.
