Four Azerbaijani fishers missing during a storm on the Caspian Sea

11 July 2008 [10:46] - TODAY.AZ
A fishing vessel with four people on the board went missing in the Caspian Sea.
As is known, the boat went into the sea three days ago from the Pirallakhi island.

Interfax reports with reference to ANS that deputy chief of the state marine administration of Azerbaijan Namik Aghamaliyev stressed possible crash of the boat due to storms, registered in the sea for several days.

"We consider that the storm disabled the boat engine and strong wind carried it to the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea. Perhaps, the boat crashed, as a strong wind can turn such boats upside down", said Aghamaliyev.

The information about the incident was transfered to the hydrographic service of Azerbaijani marine forces, which in turn informed all ships on the Caspian Sea about the incident.
