Chief of department under presidential administration: "Among prisoners there are people, who deserve pardoning even more than imprisoned journalists"

Chief of department under Presidential Administration on work with law enforcement bodies Fuad Aleskerov considers that there are people among prisoners, who should be released before journalists.
"While defining candidates for amnesty, journalists are not singled out into a special group. There are many people in prison, who deserve pardoning even more than imprisoned journalists", said he, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

According to the chief of department, the State Pardoning Commission under the President of Azerbaijan is working with received materials and appeals on amnesty. "Humanistic policy of the president is constant, no matter if a prisoner is a journalist or no", added Aleskerov.

Head of the public policy department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov stressed possible pardoning following the presidential elections.

It should be reminded that editor-in-chief of Realny Azerbaijan and Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper Eynulla Fatullayev, editor-in-chief of Azadlyg opposition daily Ganimet Zahid and his brother, Azadlyg correspondent Mirza Sakit are in prison, charged under various articles.
