Center on kidney transplantation to open in Baku

"Azerbaijan's Ministry of Health is undertaking steps to train qualified staff in the medical sphere", said Azerbaijan's Minister of Health Oqtay Shiraliyev at a press conference in Yeni Azerbaijan party.
He said about 100 Azerbaijani doctors attend special training courses in Turkey, over 40 medical workers were sent to Germany for medical practice.

"Azerbaijan and Belarus are expected to sign an agreement in the sphere of health. Works in this direction are carried out", said Shiraliyev.

The Minister noted that the Republic urological hospital has been shutdown for major repair.

"A center of kidney transplantation will be created following the completion of repair. Works will finish by the end of this year. Surgeries on kidney transplantation will be carried out there", said Shiraliyev.

He noted that the surgery on kidney transplantation was carried in Baku in 1972 and the number of such surgeries made 12.

"Due training courses have been arranged for medical staff in this direction", resumed the minister.
