Baku to become the cleanest city in the world in the coming years

According to chief consultant of the department of environmental protection under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Arif Iskenderov, currently the Absheron peninsula is considered the most polluted area as 60% of industrial enterprises locate there. According to him, some of the enterprises have already been shutdown and others transferred out of town.

In the result of the measures, undertaken by the government, the pollution level of the Absheron peninsula has decreased. As compared to the Soviet period, the pollution rate has declined by 10 times.
