Taisiya Gordeeyeva: "It is necessary to join efforts of all lhuman rights bodies to settle issue of arrested soldiers in Azerbaijan"

Taisiya Gordeyeva told Day.Az that she has already prepared the appeal and will sent it in the near future.

"The appeal will be addressed to Arzu Abdullayeva, head of the Helsinki civil assembly, and Leyla Yunus, head of the Institute of Peace and Democracy. It will later be sent to other human rights activists.

I suggest to join efforts of all human rights activists and settle issue of arrested soldiers, kept in jails for imposed accusations of desertion and high treason.

Azerbaijani soldiers are not deserters, as Ministry of Defense states. Our guys want to serve, not to be abused by their commanders. It is a shame for the judges to add all captured soldiers into the list of betrayers! What can a soldier see from its post? Our soldiers are captured due to circumstances, they do not give up", Gordeyeva noted.

The human rights activist hopes that she will manage to draw public attention to this issue and promote its resolution and return of innocent soldiers home, in cooperation with other human rights activists.
