Elmira Suleymanova: "Problem of mutual extradition of those imprisoned in Georgia and Azerbaijan is being settled"

The issue of mutual extradition of those imprisoned in Georgia and Azerbaijan is being settled.

The due statement was made by Azerbaijani Ombudsman of Human Rights Elmira Suleymanova.

She said the due structures of the two countries carry out definite works in this direction.

According to the Azerbaijani Ombudsman, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice appealed to the Justice Ministry of Georgia regarding the issue of mutual extradition of citizens, kept in jails of the two countries.

She said  that the issue must be settled on the level of the Ministries of Justice of the two countries, which must coordinate all the issues.

She said with reference to the Justice Ministry of Azerbaijan that the documents necessary for extradition of citizens of Azerbaijan, imprisoned in Georgia, have already been submitted to the Georgian side and the problem is currently being settled.

The Azerbaijani ombudsman noted that she wants to accelerate the settlement of this issue.

"In this view, I have appealed to the Ombudsman of the neighbor country and will visit Georgia for the settlement of the issue on the spot", she added.
