A minute silence to be announced in Houston on January 20 tragedy by order of city Mayor

The letter says over 130 innocent people were murdered in Baku at the night January 20, 1990 for struggle of Azerbaijanis for freedom and independence.

Mayor said though Mikhail Gorbachov later confessed that this step was a mistake, January 20 remains one of the mournful days in the history of Azerbaijan.

Bill White wrote that those events influenced Azerbaijani people greately and a year later Azerbaijan announced its independence.

He said that the democratic society was established in Azerbaijan after it announced its independence.

The Mayor of Houston appealing to all people of the city called them to join a minute silence to be announced in Houston at 12.00 on January 20.
