The Orthodox Christians of Azerbaijan will mark the Eve of Epitaphy on January 18.

According to the Baku Eparchial Board, the service  for royal hours in the Orthodox temples of Azerbaijan will take place at 8:00 a.m., common prayer at 10:00 a.m., blessing of the water at 12:00 and all-night vigil at 05:00 p.m.

On this day, the religious people are fasting and do not eat until they drink the blessed water. They also cook coliphia made of rice, honey and raisins.

The eve of Epitaphy is an evening before a great Orthodox holiday, called Epitaphy. This religious holiday is one of the 12 most important holidays after the Easter.

On this day, the religious people recall the christmation of Jesus Christ by the baptizer in the Jordan river. This holiday is marked on January 19 each year. The divine service will take place at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Great Blessing of the Water on the very holiday.
