Azerbaijan called most liberal country as to religious tolerance

The article reads that unlike other countries Jews are represented on the high level in Azerbaijan.

By the presented data, nearly 12,000 Jews, in particular, Quba Jews, reside in Moslem Azerbaijan with a population of 8 million people.

Larner reports that the Jewish cemetery in Quba is well cared of and the Jewish community lives in modern houses. He quotes on Milli Medjlis deputy Yevda Abramov saying that all Jews have received good education in Israel.

The deputy noted that from the point of view of tolerance Azerbaijan is a liberal country of the world, while neighbor Armenia accounts for no more than 10 Jewish families. Abramov announced that most Jews are ready to sacrifice their lives in case of war for Nagorno Garabagh.

He reminded that Jewish Albert Agarunov was among the national heros, who died in the first Garabagh was. He familiarizes the US reporter with a mass burial, revealed in Quba, which evidences massacres, committed by Armenians in 1918.

The Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan Artur Lenk also called Azerbaijan an example among other Moslem states. He stressed good economic, political and cultural ties between the two countries. Moreover, Azerbaijan meets 1/6th part of the needs of Israel of oil.

In his article Larner places the interview with Nazim Ibragimov, chairman of the State Committee for work with Azerbaijanis residing abroad and Gidayat Orudjev, head of the State Committee for work with religious structures. Touching upon the Nagorno Garabagh conflict, the author notes that 1 million of Azerbaijanis turned into internally displaced persons  in the result of Armenian occupation.
