Turkey's Constitutional Court to announce fateful decision tomorrow or Wednesday

Turkey's Constitutional Court is to announce its decision on the issues of annulment of the results of the first round of presidential elections on the application of Republic People's party (CHP) tomorrow or Wednesday, President of Constitutional Court, Tulay Tugcu stated.

Tulay Tugcu said he commissioned Judge Hikmat Tulen to prepare report on the issue.

"We try to make decision by the second round of elections. Constitutional Court always protected the rule of law and acted in this way. This time we will act so".

As Abdulla Gul during the first round of elections on Friday did not win required two-thirds (367 MPs) of votes, Republic People's Party applied to the Constitutional Court to decide if the elections were legal. Hikmat Tulen is to decide whether the first round of lections were successful or not. Then the voting will be held on the issue.

Constitutional Court's 7 members of 11 are supposed to vote for elections' canceling. This will lead to the dissolution of parliament and snap elections are to be held in 90 days after it. The current president Ahmad Nejdat Sezer will be on power until the election of a new parliament.
