Gobustan's 80 lifers go on hunger strike

About 80 lifers again started hunger strike in Gobustan jail of Azerbaijan from April 14, the prisoners' relations told.

The prisoners demand commuting their punishment to 15-year imprisonment.

Elchin Behbudov, chief of the Committee against Torture told the APA that a relation of one of the prisoners told him about hunger strike, but he does not know the details of the event.

Justice Ministry Penitentiary Service told that they are unaware of the case.

10 life-term prisoners started hunger strike on March 27 demanding commuting their life sentence to 15-year imprisonment. They stopped hunger strike after meeting with human rights defenders.
