Crimes in Armed Forces reduced last year

The number of common crimes recorded in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces reduced by 19.7%, crimes against military service 16.7% and non-military crimes by 28.9%, crimes on leaving military unit willfully by 27.4%, desertion by 34.8%, abuse of power by 57.6%, and service negligence by 46.7%.

General Public Prosecutor's Office told the APA that the crimes on leaving military unit willfully were not recorded. 99.9% of 2,656 crimes have been uncovered.

147 crimes against property, 117 crimes connected with corruption were recorded in the Armed Forces last year.

As a result of the investigation carried out by Investigation Department on Grave Crimes, 13 men accused of appropriation of 6,185 tonnes fuel cost AZN 1,731,778 of the Defense Ministry's military unit, as well as assistant of the commander of Air Defense Troops and Military Air Forces and military unit commander were held accountable.
