Turkish Agriculture Ministry: "We do not export infected fowls to Azerbaijan"

20 February 2007 [13:01] - TODAY.AZ
"We wrote to the countries, trading with us that we do not export fowls from the regions with the least bird flu risk. We do not export infected fowls to Azerbaijan either. There is nothing to worry. It is their right to ban fowl import from Turkey. We offered them firm guarantee," said Nihat Pakdil, deputy undersecretary of the Turksih Agriculture Ministry.

Noting that bird flu virus has spread in two regions (Diyarbakir and Batman), Pakdil said these regions are of no importance in fowl production.

"These places are away from highways, and they are not industrial enterprises. There is no H5N1 virus in our broilers. Our producers are very delicate and take measures. They have their own tests and they do not send poultries without getting positive result," he told APA's Turkey bureau.

Pakdil stated that they call on the citizens to prevent contact of poultries with migratory birds.
