Azeri newspaper banned in Ardebil

Azeri newspaper has been banned in Ardebil, Iran.

The editor-in-chief of the newspaper Salim Zahmatdust was accused of leading the protest actions in the city of Meshkin and detained in May last year. After Zahmatdust was released had continued the publication of the newspaper, law enforcement bodies pursued him.

The paper's publication was banned last week.

Law enforcement bodies confiscated Zahmatdust's and other correspondent Jalil Haqqi's passports.

Zahmatdust and Haqqi are post-graduates of Baku State University, Azerbaijan Women Rights Defence Society named after Dilara Aliyeva told the APA.
