Azeri coach calls Sokolov's ban a tragedy

16 January 2007 [00:34] - TODAY.AZ
Head coach of the Azerbaijan national football team Shahin Diniyev is in Turkey.

He is going to watch test matches of Karabakh, Inter and Neftchi, he told APA.

"I'll watch matches Karabakh-Sivasspor and Inter-Spartak," he said.

The coach also took a stance on full-back Sergey Sokolov's disqualification set at 18 months by the UEFA Discipline Committee.

"Sokolov's punishment is a tragedy. The doctors are guilty in his disqualification," he said.

As for the failure of the agreement to delay the match with Poland in March 24, he said it is not a problem to play with two teams-Poland and Finland within 4 days. "We were supposed to play though," he said.
