Azeri official: "Azerbaijan's citizens not deported from Kazakhstan"

"Azerbaijani citizens are not deported from Kazakhstan. On the Executive Order issued by President Nursultan Nazarbayev recently illegal migrants living in the country are pardoned. No Azerbaijani citizens appealed to the embassy concerning the documents checkup being conducted at the moment," said the head of the consulate department of the Azerbaijani embassy in Kazakhstan Rovshan Huseynzadeh.

He told the APA that 250 000 Azerbaijanis are living in Kazakhstan, 70 000 of which are Azerbaijani citizens.

"Azerbaijani citizens are engaged in small business, and mostly work in markets. The majority of them are settled in Almaty, Astana and Aktau," he said.

The diplomat said that appeals of our compatriots are mostly connected with national passports.

Rovshan Huseynzadeh said that the embassy gives return certificates to the Azerbaijani citizens without national passports.

The diplomat also said that according to the new Regulations about consulate, consulate department will have the right to give national passport to Azerbaijani citizens.

Such a competence has already given to Azerbaijani consulate in Moscow and general consulate in St. Petersburg.
