11 mine accidents happened in 2006 in Azerbaijan. The explosions killed 2 and wounded 15 persons.

The injured underwent cures in health resort sanatoriums in the region of Absheron through the ANAMA mine victim assistant programme. The workers of the Agency purchased wheelchairs for the persons with serious hit. They were provided with medicine and some of them were operated. ANAMA also signed projects with a number of NGOs on mine victim assistance. 104 persons were employed in various regions according to the President's decree to eliminate poverty. The Agency has cleared 42m sq. meters so far and neutralized 98.127 ammunitions. 360 trained mine clearing personnel, 32 mine detection dogs and 4 mine clear machines participated in the process.

20000000sq.m areas were cleared from mines and 86,423 UXO was rendered harmless in 2006. The operations were especially held in Fuzuli, Agjabedi, Terter and Agstafa regions. Some garden and school yards in regions were cleared from the mines. Owing to the cooperation with NATO Azerbaijan government continues mine clearing operations in Saloglu village of Agstafa region. The agency cleaned 4000000sq.m dirty areas were cleaned using mine detections, mine detection dogs and mechanical demining fails in2006 and also completed cleaning of the territory defined for building settlement for refugees. The agency bought one MV-4 mechanical demining fail made in Croatia and eight special mine detection dogs. One more BOZENA-4 mechanical demining fail was bought from Slovenia.

The agency put signs, big notice boards warning about mine danger in front lines and border regions and enlightened the masses about mina danger. ANAMA organized trainings about enlightenment about mine security together with Education ministry and UNICEF Azerbaijani Office in 13 regions and six regions of Nakhchivan in 2005. 675 teachers were involved to those trainings. In the seven trainings held in 2006, 200 teachers were enlightened, 9850 training aids, 1020 education aids for teachers, 20000 copy books illustrated with the pictures warning about mine danger were give to Education boards. Special billboards were prepared and placed in dangerous zones to provide the security of the population. APA
